Flygt SUBCAB® Submersible Motor Cable Product Overview

    Key Features and Advantages

SUBCAB cables are constructed with highly durable compounds that provide four times the expected service life compared to conventional H07RN-F standard cables. The outer sheath, made of chlorinated polyethylene rubber (CPE type: SGM5) or high-density ethylene-propylene rubber (HEPR/3GI3), withstands water temperatures up to 70°C and ambient temperatures of 90°C for conductor insulation, preventing insulation degradation and cracking under normal load conditions.

Mechanical robustness is achieved through superior tear and abrasion resistance with significantly higher tensile strength than traditional cables. The design ensures reliable leak-proof performance via tight outer diameter tolerances that guarantee perfect fit with cable entry gaskets, maintaining seal integrity even under high pressure from sealing sleeves. With extremely low water absorption, SUBCAB can operate at depths up to 50 meters.

    Built-in Intelligence and VFD Compatibility

A standout feature is the integrated monitoring core that eliminates the need for separate fragile auxiliary cables. All shielded cables and unshielded cables from ±10 mm² include a built-in shielded control core, enabling proper sensor monitoring and easy connection to Flygt's MAS 800 pump monitoring system. This simplifies installation by replacing traditional dual-cable setups (motor cable plus separate control cable) with a single, robust solution.

For variable frequency drive (VFD) operations, shielded SUBCAB versions are available. The efficient screening reduces electromagnetic radiation to other electronic equipment, ensuring CE/EMC compliance and proper communication with monitoring units while maintaining the same mechanical and thermal properties as standard versions.

    Technical Specifications and Compliance

SUBCAB operates at rated voltages of 600/1000V (Europe) and 600V (North America/Canada), with copper strand conductors. The cables demonstrate chemical resistance across pH 3-10, ozone resistance per EN 50396 and ISO 4892-2, and oil/flame resistance per IEC 60811-1-1 and VDE 0472. They are FM-approved for explosion-proof and mining applications (Certificate No. J1.0R8A0.AE) and meet international standards including IEC 60245, CSA No. 49, UL 1581, and VDE specifications.

Available in configurations from 3-core 1.5 mm² to 4-core 120 mm², with current capacities ranging 23-346A at 30°C, SUBCAB supports both portable and fixed installations with bending radii ≥10x outer cable diameter. Custom variants include 7-power-core versions for star-delta starting and combined power-control cables like 4G35+2x1.5 mm².

    Applications

SUBCAB cables are the standard power connection for Flygt's complete submersible pump range, including dewatering pumps (e.g., Flygt 2670), sewage pumps (C3045), and propeller pumps (P 7081, PL 7000 series). They are ideal for wastewater transport, mining, quarries, industrial zones, flood control, and seawater intake stations where reliability and longevity are critical.
